QrcodeGen.cc is a free QR code generator. It exists to do one job well: turn the information you want to share into a scannable square, without accounts, without paywalls and without making you hand over data you would rather keep.

Why we built it

QR codes moved from a niche logistics tool to something almost everybody scans. Menus, event tickets, boarding passes, contact cards, payment requests and package tracking all use them now. Yet a lot of the "free" generators online either watermark the output, expire the code after a few days, demand a sign-up before you can download anything, or quietly route your link through a tracking redirect you did not ask for.

We wanted the opposite of that. A static QR code encodes its data directly into the image, so it keeps working for as long as its destination does. There is no account to create, no expiry date hidden in the terms and no redirect we control sitting between you and your visitors.

How we handle your data

The form values you type are assembled in your browser and used to request a QR image. We do not require an account, and we do not build a profile of the codes you create. The full detail, including how advertising cookies work, is in our Privacy Policy.

Static versus dynamic QR codes

Everything here produces static QR codes. That is deliberate. A static code is durable: print it on a sign and it will still work in five years, as long as the destination is alive. The trade-off is that you cannot change where it points, and you cannot measure how many people scanned it.

A dynamic QR code points to a short redirect URL instead. You can retarget it and see scan counts, but the code stops working if that redirect service ever goes away. For anything permanent — a shopfront sign, a business card, a plaque — static is usually the safer choice.

How the site is funded

The Site is free to use and is supported by advertising, including ads served by Google. Advertising lets us keep the tools open without charging for downloads. Our Privacy Policy explains how to opt out of personalised advertising if you prefer.

Editorial approach

Our guides are written to be genuinely useful rather than to fill space: specific sizes, specific settings, specific failure modes. Where a recommendation depends on the situation, we say so rather than pretending there is one right answer.
