Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
QrcodeGen.cc ("we", "us" or "our") operates a free QR code generator at https://qrcodegen.cc/. This Privacy Policy explains what information is and is not collected when you use the site, how cookies and advertising work here, and what choices you have. It applies to every page of this website, including the QR code generator, the utility tools and the blog.
We have tried to write this policy in plain language. If anything is unclear, please contact us and we will clarify it.
1. Summary
- QR code content is prepared in your browser. We do not require an account and we do not ask for personal details to generate a QR code.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We use cookies for basic site functionality and, where you have consented, for advertising served by Google.
- You can decline advertising cookies and the site will keep working.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
The QR code generator runs entirely in your browser. The text, URLs, WiFi credentials, vCard details, payment references and other values you type into the form are used to build the QR image and are not sent to us as a matter of course.
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you submit so that we can reply. We use that information only to answer your enquiry.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting provider and our analytics and advertising partners automatically receive standard technical information when your browser requests a page. This can include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, the pages you view and the time of the request. This information is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used, to keep it secure and to measure advertising performance.
2.3 QR image requests
To draw a QR code image, your browser requests it from a public QR image endpoint. That request includes the encoded content and your IP address is visible to that endpoint, as it would be to any server you contact on the internet. If you are encoding sensitive information, consider whether a QR code is the right way to share it.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them for the following purposes:
| Type | Purpose | Consent needed |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Remembers your cookie choice and basic preferences so the site behaves consistently. | No |
| Analytics | Shows us which pages are used and where the site is slow or broken, in aggregate. | Yes |
| Advertising | Allows Google and its partners to serve and measure ads on this site. | Yes |
4. Advertising, Google AdSense and third-party cookies
This site displays advertising provided by Google. The following explains how that works, as required by Google's own policies for publishers.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a person's prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
Google may also use the DoubleClick DART cookie for interest-based advertising. These cookies are set by Google, not by us, and Google controls how the data collected through them is used.
4.1 Your choices
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you can also manage choices at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Members of the Network Advertising Initiative can use the opt-out tools listed at optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect non-advertising features of the site.
If you decline cookies through the banner on this site, we will not load non-essential advertising or analytics cookies.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK visitors)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Consent for analytics and advertising cookies, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests for keeping the site secure, preventing abuse and understanding aggregate usage, balanced against your rights.
- Contract or pre-contractual steps when you contact us and we reply.
6. Data retention
We do not keep a database of the QR codes you generate. Contact emails are kept only as long as needed to answer your enquiry and to maintain a record of the correspondence. Server and security logs are retained for a limited period by our hosting provider.
7. Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We may share limited data with:
- Our hosting and content delivery providers, to deliver the site.
- Our analytics and advertising partners, including Google, subject to your cookie choices.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.
8. Children's privacy
This site is a general-audience utility. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal information we hold about you, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email support@qrcodegen.cc.
California residents may also request details of how their information is shared for cross-context behavioural advertising, and may request that it not be sold or shared.
10. Data security
We use HTTPS across the site and restrict administrative access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so while we take reasonable precautions we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. External links
Our guides link to other websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
